Age Requirements

While there is no age maximum to work with Habitat for Humanity, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to work on an active construction site.  This is a Habitat International regulation.

Construction Requirements

  • Ages 14 - 15: May assist with some site work such as landscaping. 14 and 15 year olds cannot be present on an
    active construction site.
  • Ages 16 - 17: Are not allowed to use any power tools or work from heights (on a roof or on scaffolding) on the
construction site. Adult supervisors accompanying 16 and 17 year olds assume responsibility of compliance.
  • Ages 18 and over: May participate in any aspect of the homebuilding process.

If anyone on a site is 14 or 15, activities for the whole group must be age appropriate

for 14-15 year olds.

Additional ways anyone of any age can support Habitat:

  • Make a financial or in-kind donation.
  • Organize a Tool Drive.
  • Bring lunches to our volunteers.
  • Organize a Inkjet/Toner Recycling Drive or hold a Rent-A-Teen Program.
  • Sponsor a car wash/dance/bake sale.
  • Cut the grass at Habitat owned property.
  • Encourage your congregation to post Habitat information on their web sites, bulletin boards, newsletters. Pray for our Partner Families, our volunteers, and our success.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must complete a waiver of liability form that must also be signed by a parent or guardian.
